Excellent question.  Oddly just this week I had a friend call to see if
I had both a CPU and MOBO, because he could not locate a local vendor
for his customers dead PC.

Yes,  It is hard to pay for store front overhead.

I have in the past called local PC Repair business for parts.  It is a
hit and miss approach.  With rapidly increasing hardware changes, and a
huge variety of CPU's alone, keeping stock to satisfy the masses, is
near masochistic to try and stock a decent selection.

I recently walked in All Computer Repair in Highland.  I recall they had
a few shelf items at the time.
