Perhaps surprisingly, that's not the case: http://www.ah0a.org/FCC/Licenses.html The population seems to be more-or-less constant around 2/3 megaham. The *increase* in recent years may due to a bunch of folks getting cozy with the disaster preparedness concept. There is absolutely no way to measure the number of *actve* hams in that population. For example, I'd claim to be active, but it's almost entirely APRS and short-range intercom while on the bikes, so I might not appear where anybody would be counting. -- Ed http://softsolder.com _______________________________________________ Mid-Hudson Valley Linux Users Group http://mhvlug.org http://mhvlug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mhvlug Upcoming Meetings (6pm - 8pm) MHVLS Auditorium Jun 1 - Zimbra Jul 6 - Jul 2011 Aug 3 - Scala - 100th MHVLUG meeting
