The LSx Firebird/Camaro had a system that was rear-mounted (I think it was STS - Squires Turbo Systems, located here: http://www.ststurbo.com/ that was the company that started it).. and I have seen a rear mount kit locally on a GTO (hacked job tho).. The idea (as I recall) is that rear mount allows the intake charge to be cooled via the 8' of intake plumbing and therefore an IC isn't needed, but the argument against was the whole hot gases better for turbo, so how hot will it really be at the back, etc. STS even has a "universal" kit, interesting..
Bottom line, even if it was inefficient, it would work.. the question may
be is it the best design, to which I would say probably not, but if it
works.. well, you can't argue with dyno proof of more ponies. The other
factor is cost per gains, and for me, am I better off just putting the $$
into known heads/cam instead of some half-baked turbo setup, and my gut
says yes, turbo isn't the most effective use of the money.
Still, would be cool. :)
Wally
p.s. I love any turbo kit that touts "Improved Fuel Economy" and "Cleaner
Emissions".. HA!

Re: G8 Twin Turbo kit (nmc)
There was a long thread on this list some years about Corvette systems
that worked that way, including a bunch of marketing drivel about why
that was a better design.
Unfortunately, every time I try to load the old archive, it nukes the
web archive software. I'll rebuild without it when I get to work. Open
for suggestions on alternate software. :)
