Hi Jim, Yep, that's a good idea that I've been meaning to carry out for quite some time now. :-) I'll do that this weekend (hopefully).
On the way home I got really paranoid that I had an exhaust leak because the difference was 200 degrees or more. I was wondering if it was somehow sucking in cool air (or blowing out lots of exhaust) and that was the problem. I'll see about tightening the exhaust nuts/studs this weekend as well.
