Has nothing to do with it being a non-interference engine. Has to do with the key failing and ruining the crank nose. Even if you don't replace the key, I certainly would replace the bolt and torque it properly with some Loctite on it.

Probably should have, huh? I actually gave it some thought when I was buying stuff, but it's worked perfectly for 200,000+ miles and that thing really makes me nervous - enough that I think I want to trust the original part more than a replacement. Well, it's a non-interference motor right? At least that's what I've always understood, but NAPA seems to think different. And now that I know how to do it... Squirted them out with brake cleaner and a rag over the nozzle/hole to preven spraying crap. Then sopped them out dry with a bunch of q-tips. Mop oil out of head holes, put light oil on the head bolts. No locktite. If you have pooled oil in the bottom of the head bolt holes you can actually crack the block when it doesn't compress. _______________________________________________ Miatapower mailing list [email protected] http://list.miatapower.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/miatapower
