Well,

Hopefully the urgent in the line nets some reasonably quick responses. 
This is my last day off for the next three days, then it's rain for a 
few days after that.

I noticed this morning in making the final preparations for getting the 
head back on the car that one of the two head locator dowel pins that 
belong in the block is actually in the old head. Not only is it in the 
head, it is submerged to surface level so I can't get a grip on it.

What can I do?

I realize that it's sole funciton is a locator, but how do I keep the 
head gasket from moving around while I man-handle the head into place?

Would a couple of dabs of silicone sealer on the outside of the block work?

Otherwise things are going pretty good. I re-accessorized the 
replacement head, rebuilt the original non-N2O intake manifold, knocked 
out the water pump and front main seal. The Woodruff key on my LWSC 
looked to be in pristine condition but I put a couple of dabs of red 
threadlock on it for good measure.
