That's probably why your AC compressor is dying.  It wasn't designed for R134.  
Since you're using 134 already, I'd say "go for it."

Not unless you're swapping all the other AC parts as well.  Your AC
system is an R-12 system, and his is an R-134.  The compressors are not
interchangeable, even if they would "bolt up."

Will the a/c compressor from a 2002 Miata work on a 1991 Miata? I'm

out a friend part out the engine of his car, we're putting a LS1
conversion

He knows my compressor has been making a horrible noise, so he giving me

compressor. But I want to make sure it'll work on my car before I
accept. It
looks like it will bolt up, but you know looks can be deceiving.
