If it goes this far, filter can be added before the compressor.. a/c system
scan never really be flushed of debris, especially the condenser. but a
generic a/c inline filter is cheap and can protect the debris from getting
to the new compressor

Additional caution:

Make sure you completely flush the old system with a proper AC flush. Since
your compressor is dying, there may be little metallic bits floating around
your AC system, and you want to make darned sure they're outta there. If
one of those gets in your "new" compressor.. Well.. Say bye-bye to the
seals.

That's probably why your AC compressor is dying. It wasn't designed for
R134. Since you're using 134 already, I'd say "go for it."

I've already changed over to the R-134 freon. Did this a couple of years
ago.

Not unless you're swapping all the other AC parts as well. Your AC
system is an R-12 system, and his is an R-134. The compressors are not
interchangeable, even if they would "bolt up."

Will the a/c compressor from a 2002 Miata work on a 1991 Miata? I'm
helping
out a friend part out the engine of his car, we're putting a LS1
conversion
into his car.

He knows my compressor has been making a horrible noise, so he giving me
the
compressor. But I want to make sure it'll work on my car before I
accept. It
looks like it will bolt up, but you know looks can be deceiving.

Thanks for the help,
Lloyd
