Ok thanks guys. I think (after filling and rinsing with soapy water a couple times) I will use jb weld and a small sheetmetal patch with 3 self tapping screws while the jb weld is wet. Should be fine, hopefilly. Yes Metro parts are somewhat scarce lately.

Ive repaired gas tanks w/ fiberglass. Clean the surrounding area well with degreasing solvent (adhesive cleaner, brake cleaner, etc.), scuff the area w/ 120 grit sandpaper and glass over. I like the resin with milled fiberglass in it for increased strength. The repair lasted for years and was still intact when it met its demise. Of course, a replacement tank is preferable. About a half inch hole got punched into my tank. Any thoughts on fixing it? Its in a flat area on the bottom, and I could remove it, flush with soap and water of all gas residue, and then perhaps pop rivet a sheet metal patch with jb weld or something. Any better ideas?
