HP means higher corner entry speeds, and thus more energy and heat for the braking system to absorb and dissipate. If you have a different setup that involves lower cornering speeds (such as not having another Spec Miata to lean on throughout the corner!), then you have to go from a higher speed to a lower speed, meaning even more braking punishment.

I found the carbotechs to have a much more gradual bite, much easier to modulate, and that suits my slightly earlier braking style much better. my dad is on cobalts, he sold me all his carbo's because he didnt like them. 2x the hp is one thing, but what are your average speeds compare with a spec miata? HP doesn't really mean much. On 6/5/08, Dave Ott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Speaking of spec miata and pads.... All you spec miata guys... what pads are you typically running? Think they'd hold up to 30min sessions with a car just as light and almost as setup... but with ~twice the HP? Any of you guys that change pads per weekend... think they have ones left with enough meet for hpde/open day usage? Want to sell them off... or will them on for a fun cause (driving on track = fun cause right?). -Dave On Thu, Jun 5, 2008 at 9:30 AM, Flash. <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: it's a spec miata, what do you think! i replace pads like every other weekend. looks like calipers need to go, i think theyre eating into my lap times. $150 for half a second is cheap at this stage. Do you have those on your car? Flash. wrote: how do you adjust the front brakes on an old 1.6? Aren't they self adjusting?
