AFAIK higher altitude gives better MPG because of the lower pumping losses through the throttle butterfly. The twin turbo BMW 335i gets very good cruise MPG for its weight and power (29 by Car&Driver), and I believe part of the reason is that the wastegates open during cruise. They have a vacuum operated actuator to open them.--- On Tue, 8/26/08, Sam Sharp <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:From: Sam Sharp <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>Subject: Re: MPG (was Dyno Results from Changing from a Link to a Hydra)To: "Robert McElwee" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>Cc: "Bill Cardell" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Tuesday, August 26, 2008, 6:31 PMI got 35.6 with my '03 FMII on one tank driving home from the Open House. Trying to chase down the miss fire problem I am having. I know people over estimate the MPG they get on their Miatas but DAMN I have been stuck at 35 MPG for weeks and can't get over that hump. I need to get the car out on the interstate for a nice long drive to see what my MPGs really are. I just can't understand how people are getting 28-30 on a stock Miata and my modified car doesn't get much better . I think it is time to check my speedometer against the GPS because I should be higher than this. I am running stock 14" 7-spoke wheels so I would figure my speed should be spot on but you never know.On Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 6:09 PM, Tony Cooper <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:I gained 3 or 4 mpg while cruising at 60-65mph when I switched tosequential on my SC equipped 1.6 miata.Matt Yates wrote:> FWIW, the MegaSquirt FAQ says they dont run sequential injection because> they see no significant benefit other than around idle._______________________________________________Miatapower mailing [EMAIL PROTECTED]://list.miatapower.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/miatapower -- Robert McElwee and Blue Flash"The 50 MPG Miata"www.lightweightmiata.com/mpgLightweight Miata Forum:www.lightweightmiata.com/forumThe Miata Trailer Project:www.lightweightmiata.com/trailer_______________________________________________Miatapower mailing [EMAIL PROTECTED]://list.miatapower.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/miatapower_______________________________________________ Miatapower mailing list [email protected] http://list.miatapower.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/miatapower
