Many of us have Wally to thank for extra-functional (read: linear
output) stock temp gauges. Are you still making those Wally?

I looked at doing that.. except I want all the
gauges to match, and that's a $450+ proposition if I go down the
aftermarket route.. and that's $450 more than I have to spend.
Besides, I love tearing apart my cluster and spending
hours playing with it.. ;)

I replaced the factory temp gauge with a
Autometer in my Miata cluster. 99% of the people never notice it.

Sort of.. The FC OPG is pure crap, you
should look at that back of one to see how it's built (FC, S4 or S5..
both the same). Trying to find a way to use the Fuel or the Temp gauge
in it's place... keep the face, but use a "real" gauge behind it. The
fuel and the coolant are oddball ranges tho so not making any progress.

More details on the custom gauge part? Is this to replace the FC gauge
sender but use the FC gauge in the dash?
I have a similar need/project in mind and am wondering if we can come
up
with a similar solution. Please let me know if you find an exact
replacement sender with these characteristics.
FWIW, the FD gauge sender is 10 ohms at 120 PSI and infinity at 0 psi
but are notoriously known for reading low oil pressure at idle after
some time. I think it is a common problem with Mazda gauge senders.
