The TRUTH is: We do have an effect on the planet. We should try and be wise about our effect on the planet. BUT, many people use the two truths above to frighten, bully, and legislate their views into laws without telling everyone the actual facts. The "greenhouse effect", "global warming", "the terrible hole in the Ozone layer" are all propaganda ploys, IMHO, all based loosely on facts but twisted in such a way to make unknowing people react out of fear.
The "greenhouse effect" is a true phenomenon, and I think we should consider the ramifications an act to prevent damage to the atmosphere. I think the average volcano spews more "greenhouse gas" into the atmosphere than CA could in a decade. "Global warming" does exist, as does "global cooling". The planet has been going through temperature trend cycles for as long as people have been recording temperature. I think we are in a cooling cycle now, but you don't hear many people trying to pass legislation to stop the next impending ice age. "That terrible hole in the Ozone layer" has been there for how long? I think it has been there for a long time. I think it was there long before people started releasing harmful chemicals into the atmosphere. There is evidence that it grows larger and then grows smaller at times. The problems is that too many people use partial facts, scare tactics, and outright lies to further their agendas. Fortunately for us in the lower 47, we have Kalifornia over there to test some of these extreme agendas. Then, we can follow their lead and extract the useful ideas from their actions and move forward. Environmentalism, gay rights, gun control, welfare, illegal immigration, abortion, corruption, religion, and all the other issues that divide people and parties and make up politics all seem to have test beds on the left coast. We all just need to try and make wise, educated decisions and not be led astray by either extreme faction. _______________________________________________ Miatapower mailing list [email protected] http://list.miatapower.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/miatapower
