Let's say Mom wants you to do the dishes, but you refuse because your brother has refused to do the dishes. Now let's say your sister also refuses to do the dishes. No one wants to do the dishes... So, before long, all the dishes are dirty, and the sink is filled with dirty dishes. The same is true of environmental cleanup.
