Thanks for all the ideas, guys. What I've discovered is the pump we're
using is rated very close to the Miata pump in pressure. Most of the RX7
v8 swap guys seem to be running ls1 pumps which are higher pressure, so
they are all trying to reduce pressure because their steering effort is
too light. Our effort is decent, just aerating and making noise once the
bubbles arrive. So far we have made major improvements by running more
fluid in the res and putting the stock cooler loop back in. (Don't ask
why it was taken out). I think possibly a real cooler will lick the
problem for good.
