my idle control has been MIA for a while. in summer, the a/c knocks the rpm
unacceptably low. i did the cleaning, checking tasks months ago and determined
I need an ISC.
meanwhile, the TPS has gone bad and it is accompanied with the 14 code as well.
I am installing the TPS right now. it's on, just reading the mazda workshop
manual to set it.
and I stumbled onto refence to a "atmospheric pressure sensor" in section F so
eveidently there is one. i hope it's not in the ECU because my car is an
automatic.
at any rate, i will install the TPS, clear the codes, and see what happens next.
also, thanks for the advice it helps

According to the Enthusiast Manual code 14 is the Atmospheric Sensor and the
only fix is a new ECU. What makes you think you need an ISC also? Since you're
getting a code 14. I'd clear it and see if it comes back and if it does I'd
start with an ECU before I did anything else. JMHO Larry Alster 91 Miata

Subject: RE: Baro sensor needed! thanks for the replies. now I am reallly
confused. it is displaying code 14 "atmospheric sensor". so far I know I need
the Idle Air Control. someone replied that he has one of those. the other issue
is Code 14 with more than one possibility the AFMthe ECU (my car is automatic)
one symptom is my car MPG has dropped to 20MPG from the normal 28ish. runs
perfect otherwise. 1992 Miata Auto why cant this be simple! :)
