I presume the unsafe comment is regarding the "make sure it's not in gear..." part, since the remote starter engagement enables being say, under or in front of the car when you activate it.
A remote starter trigger should really have some kind of neutral safety interlock incorporated, whether they typically do or not is unknown to me, just seems prudent.
