I sort of solved a couple of lighting and insulation problems on my ceiling ay once; I stuffed the rafters with normal roll insultation then capped it all with 4x8 foam sheets with the aluminum foil side facing down for the reflection. I suppose the white side would have worked too but it had all the branding printed on it. I fastened it all with long wood screws and fender washers every 2'. It all looks kinda like a mattress. It was far easier than trying to hang sheet rock over my head for sure, and no further finishing is required. I even had to do a big repair when an oak tree fell through the corner one day. I was able to piece the busted sheets of foam back together with aluminum foil duct tape and reuse it all. You can hardly tell it is a repair. The rest of the roof was a bunch more work....
