With all due respect, that is a bullshit idea. Brian didn't need a Melinda or a Landy to "brainwash" him into not wanting to perform with those guys. As early as 1963, he was skipping shows. He never wanted his family in what he considered "his band". Furthermore, I cannot blame Melinda for not wanting Brian with the Beach Boys. I don't want him with the Beach Boys either. Since the mid-70's nothing good has come from putting Brian back with the band. Why anyone would think that would all of a sudden change if Brian was "allowed" to spend time with Mike is beyond me. Besides, without Carl and Dennis what would be the point? (it is also worth noting that outside of us, this would not be that big a deal - as far as the general public is concerned, the Beach Boys never "disbanded").
I'm no fan of Melinda, but I have to take exception to her being portrayed as this evil villainess who is keeping selfish Beach Boys fans from the "happy ending" that they think will gloriously take place if Brian is onstage with Mike et al. Maybe someone should be making and selling "Still Pissed At Melinda" bumper stickers just like the "Still Pissed at Yoko" stuff you see for sale at Beatles conventions. "You have the old records if you want to reminisce". - John Lennon. Amen, John. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Diamond Headz" group.
