famous instrumental, with pianist Howard Smith.
1957 – The Crew Cuts perform on American Bandstand.
1960 – Johnny Burnette records “You’re Sixteen” for Liberty Records.
1960 – Roy Orbison records “I’m Hurtin’,” “Come Back To Me” and “(I’d Be) A
Legend In My Time” at RCA Studios in Nashville.
1963 – Small American record label, Swan, releases The Beatles single, “She
Loves You” b/w “I’ll Get You” in the U.S. The record receives little

birthday in Sydney Harbour in Australia. The two acts are in town awaiting
the start of their joint tour together on the 21st.
1989 – Singer Natalie Cole marries her second husband, Rufus drummer and
record producer André Fischer. They stay married for six years.
1991 – Willie Nelson marries his fourth wife, Annie D’Angelo. They’re still
married.
1992 – Barbra Streisand performs at a fundraiser for Democratic

1993 – Grace Slick's home is destroyed by a fire, ignited by sparks from a

1996 – Obsessed 21-year old Björk fan Ricardo López commits suicide in his
Hollywood, California, apartment after mailing an acid-spraying letter bomb
to the singer’s London home on September 12. The package was intercepted by
the Metropolitan Police.
1996 – Pearl Jam begins their No Code Tour at the Key Arena in Seattle. The
group refuses to sell tickets through TicketMaster and goes through other
vendors, which makes getting tickets for their shows difficult.
1998 – A notebook once belonging to Beatles roadie Mal Evans, containing
Paul McCartney’s hand-written lyrics to “Hey Jude,” sells at an auction by
Sotheby’s in London for £111, 500 ($178,000). Also sold is a jean jacket
once belonging to John Lennon, and a Union Jack dress worn by Spice Girl
Geri Halliwell.
2006 – Bob Dylan’s album Modern Times hits #1 on the Billboard album chart.
It is Dylan’s first #1 album in 30 years.
