I think kernel 2.6.24 is supported by the driver, then you could only upgrade 
to 
etchandhalf that is like a new debian version but only upgrades the kernel and 
make a few packages more uptodate if you are afraid of lenny (what I could 
understand regarding the lot of changes that implies). At least it is 
interesting to know that this exists…
