Brian; Since you have JUST 10 feet head, what is the water volume you have ?.
If you have a quality Sextant then with geometry you can measure the length of the pipe, you already know the HEAD. I have measured rugged bushwhack and Rocky areas with a good measuring tape and a sextant or accurate compass in an area that is clear , then finding the angle to the upper spot to calculate the desired length. There are laser equipment for that purpose that are accurate to a fraction of a centimeter in hundreds of meters, though you pay for those.
