Always good to learn!! You can read their scriptures (and several
other docs about their customs and lifestyle) here:
http://www.sacred-texts.com/asia/sby/index.htm
The Yezidis are much maligned and misunderstood. Once Westerners hear
that they want to supplicate the Devil, they start picturing
witchcraft and human sacrifice and candles made of baby fat. Their
version of Satanism is FAR from that. But it IS very confusing. I
mean, what do you make of THIS (from their articles of faith):
According to our religion it is something intolerable when the Moslem
in the morning begins to say in prayer, God forbid! "I take refuge in
God, etc." If any one of us hear it, he must kill the one who says it
and kill himself; otherwise he becomes an infidel.

I can understand the revulsion against 'God Forbid', in that, to say
that phrase is to admit a lack of faith that God will attend to one's
needs, but to kill yourself (much less, killing the one who said it)
because you heard someone ELSE say it, is just ridiculous.
