At the very least I would expect humanity to recognize the
fruitlessness of violent interaction, the emptiness of the end
result. At the end of all wars exists all that which should have
transpired prior to the war itself, that being compromise. It should
be noted that the culmination of all wars has left us always with the
huge task of rebuilding from the rubble of destruction.
There should be enacted a global understanding that disagreement on
any level finds no resolve in weaponry, regardless of it's
sophistication. The bomb is much the same weapon as the sword, as
they both speak the same language, strike and kill. Global
disarmament is not likely but necessary. As long as humanity uses war
to accomplish peace, humanity will continue to suffer. The sad part is
that much of war is founded in economics, the mainstay of the
industrial war machine, the *military industrial complex. Imagine a
non war society in a monetary manner. How much more peace could war
financing buy? How much better people would be living with less fear
and worry over want and a strip of land.
Aside from casualty and suffering, war financing wastes trillions of
dollars. http://www.nationalpriorities.org/costofwar_home How many
more homes and hospitals can we build? How much can we put into land
development in poor regions?
*The phrase military-industrial complex was first used on January 17,
1961, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower [1] in his farewell address to
the nation in what is called his Military Industrial Complex Speech:
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the
acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by
the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise
of misplaced power exists and will persist. "We must never let the
weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic
processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and
knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge
industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods
and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."
War wastes resources, destroys our environment, retrogrades the growth
of humanity and has never been a viable solution to disagreement.
I'm sure that if all Minds Eye members met in person, brought with
them the multitude of disagreements, there would still exist a
peaceful resolve at the conclusion of the meeting. No one would have
need to bring weaponry to prove their point. This is what should be
in the global community of diverse nations.
