Nor did I mean to take it as such. Here and there on rare occasion I
manage an artful phrase or thought but mostly my dribble is no more no
less than most others. And if one must waste time, I suppose there
are far more artful ways of doing so, which is an area I feel I have
a small bit of artistic talent -- at least from others' points of view
-- because I've been often told I need to quit wasting time and do
something with my life.

There seems to be a trick or two to taking tests of any sort. I've
been fortunate. I seem to have -- or at least I did before my gray
matter started to wrinkle more than usual -- a knack for tests which
has served me well many times.

Don't you think it's at least an index of sort that can give a
relative measure of an individual's mental abilities? Though I think
the numbers might be more meaningful if they broke the standard IQ
test into discrete areas of ability. For instance, I'd probably score
fairly low in the area where you look at an object and then have to
pick out from a number of different views which one is the same. But
anything that involves math and grammer I'd probably score pretty
high.

A test doesn't have to be on paper, does it? Most of the questions on
an IQ test can be translated into actual situations which someone who
can't read or write may be able to do quite well at.

I think that's what I was referrring to above, wasn't I? Or not?

No, not really, although everytime I've done something for money I've
been a whore. Marylin has a very proper upbringing and education.
Why she chose the populist path rather than a higher road is beyond
me.

Nor is that my wasted achievement. I've discussed this before in
other threads, but to sum it up, I could have been much more than what
I was and am, but I spent too many years as a child making up for what
I didn't have when I was a child and now I carry far too much baggage
to have any real credibility. I blame no one and take full
responsibility. Hell, when people would ask me when I was going to
get serious about my life my reply would be that I was taking my
retirement now when I was young enough to enjoy it. And I can't say I
didn't make the right choice given what I now know.
