I think things may have gone too far for reconciliation Vis - though the spirit is right. The West is too far up itself to realise the problems it causes through dumb capitalism. The last depression never ended (1929) - it just brought war on a scale not seen before, followed by mad consumerism. We can't grasp this because we see ourselves as so superior through smoke and mirrors. We are suppressing many of our own domestic problems because we are too arrogant to look at what we are really doing - just as in the Sino- Soviet experiments we have a whole range of Commissars bending reports to please politicians in power. There was a threat by Bush to bomb Pakistan back to the stone age. We have just arrested a dozen Pakistani students, laying claim of a major bomb plot. It will turn out to be puny in comparison with what we are doing in Afghanistan under the guise of peacemaking. I wonder what trade the new Indian highway to the Iranian port is supposed to transport?
