I think things may have gone too far for reconciliation Vis - though
the spirit is right.  The West is too far up itself to realise the
problems it causes through dumb capitalism.  The last depression never
ended (1929) - it just brought war on a scale not seen before,
followed by mad consumerism.  We can't grasp this because we see
ourselves as so superior through smoke and mirrors.  We are
suppressing many of our own domestic problems because we are too
arrogant to look at what we are really doing - just as in the Sino-
Soviet experiments we have a whole range of Commissars bending reports
to please politicians in power.  There was a threat by Bush to bomb
Pakistan back to the stone age.  We have just arrested a dozen
Pakistani students, laying claim of a major bomb plot.  It will turn
out to be puny in comparison with what we are doing in Afghanistan
under the guise of peacemaking.  I wonder what trade the new Indian
highway to the Iranian port is supposed to transport?
