Yes, they certainly do. At times I think the system populated and aided by self-righteous do-gooders does more harm than any other aspect of its frequently abusive and victimizing nature. .
This is not to dismiss or ignore the actual child abuse which exists -- and I believe it is a substantial amount. It is clearly true that an abused child generally grows into a dysfunctional adult who in many cases and in turn abuses others. I have recently -- just last week in fact -- suffered injustice and abuse at the hands of an agency that proclaims to help people, but when one of their own commits a wrong -- the very sort of wrong for which the agency allegedly offers help -- how quickly they circle the wagons and conspire their lies to protect that wrongdoer. Not to mention the all too frequent occasions when these so-called and considered experts granted because of their agency membership, have lied under oath on the stand to convict or punish someone they "knew" to be a bad person. None of the preceding statement is meant to approve of nor mitigate any of the actual bad people or their crimes. People who behave badly in violation of the law need to be apprehended and punished and at times, for the safety of society, imprisoned, but I do not believe that an innocent person should suffer because of deliberate error on the part our justice system to ensure that all the bad folks get their just due. I'd rather a guilty man go free than see an innocent man be imprisoned. The system sucks in many ways, of that there is no doubt, and as such does more harm then good in many cases. However, I do agree with Molly sufficiently to say that things are better today than ever before in history. While we may quite often take two steps forward then slide back two or three, I believe the overall trend is toward becoming more civilized and more integrated as a healthy and whole society ... though the ultimate achievement of that condition may be well out of reach. We are really just beginning this journey, just emerging from our own brutal past. To stand up against this is to declare oneself mad. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups ""Minds Eye"" group.
