Archytas has commented many times on the suffocation of civility, the falseness of platitudes. I think he appreciates a good row for the same reason he offers so many of his personal deconstructions of our sacred cows. I have a healthy cynicism towards many things, and appreciate the wisdom his years offer. I feel much the same towards your offerings.
It's an easy reaction to lash out against sacharine responses which seek to placate but fail to engage, especially when one has lived what Tom Robbins might describe as an Outlaw life. I appreciate that perspective more than you might expect. "Gruff-ness" would be the expectation in response to something that strikes you as patently false lip service. As a follow up question though, from someone who has often been too quick to use acerbidity to melt through anything that struck me as potentially bullshit (for which I'm pretty sure Ornamental STILL thinks of me as a world class jackass): Would you feel the same if you knew Molly absolutely and sincerely believed 100% every word she said?
