I stayed 110# (pregnancies exluded) till the last 9 years and have put
on 10 pounds which I like- so 120 remains stable. Last 9 years have
been more sedentary. Could eat like a horse and drink like a fish-
think active metabolism was the key. Another was that I loved a big
breakfast- high in protein and carbs- some fruit/juice. Favorite food
is still protein but plan a lot of variety- will cook soups , pastas,
etc. Lots of coffee. Love good breads. Prefer salty to sweets but
always had desserts around when the children were home.// Once a food
is served poorly it is hard for me to ever want to eat it again- think
it's my nose that remembers- also it has to be appealing to look at.//
I owe my love of food and cooking to my mother (a great cook) and
going to excellent restaurants when I was growing up so I think taste
buds are also important and eating a wide variety of foods. My biggest
challenge is cooking for one rather than a family but I have pretty
well figured it out- thanks to the freezer and planning. Miss cooking
big roasts, deep dish pizzas, etc. and have to be careful to avoid
monotony.//Another body thing is the pull of gravity as you get older
and the bones shrink for some.// I cook in the original kitchen-1929-
put in a new floor and have up-dated appliances- stripped the cabinets
back to natural maple- great triangle work space- has a lot of charm-
at least for me. Some women I know have put in extremely expensive
kitchens and now they eat out all the time or their cooking has gone
down hill. Some of these lady-type luncheon places are worthless
except for the tab and I figure a lot of remodeling is marking
territory- like wolves or dogs.//
