BB first of all Bush really did not win  He did lose the popular election
even with out a recount in Florida,  He was essential appointed by the
republican supreme court..
The United States never has been a democracy in its entire existence.  it is
a republic.

At the time of its conception the electoral college was a good Idea. but
today with vastly improved communications  it is a way to deny the voter a
say in how they are governed.
