Exactly the question and implication.  Many people in good fortune
attribute it to God and declare, "God has blessed us" but later on in
life there is tragedy and horror, ergo, the blessing and the curse.
The idea of a loving God is, imo, absurd.  It's makes as much sense as
the purpose of dog or cock fights,  the pitting of animals for
entertainment.
