An additional talking point regarding crime in general ! A long time ago I began to take notice of the type of person which in a lot of cases (more than the normal curve would permit) became victim of crime. I'm talking about personal crimes: muggings, assaults, cons, hustles and the like.
What first brought the issue to light for me was a friend who was constantly getting assaulted, robbed and generally victimized. Rick was a slight man and walked with a limp that was more pronounced when he was depressed or feeling inferior -- which was quite often for him. When he walked down the street his head was hung down and he rarely looked anyone in the eye. If he did it was accidental and he quickly averted his gaze. Rick was a weak person and it showed clearly in his body language, especially in public. I began to wonder if this condition had anything to do with his demeanor and began to observe others with this in mind. After a few years of investigation I concluded that a person's street demeanor had a lot to do with whether or not a person was victimized and how often. In every case where I had access to the person and was able to check, which was quite a few since I was in law by that time and helped in the representation of many of these victims in lawsuits against the victimizers, against the system, against their own insurance companies, etc., I had virtually 100% confirmation of my theory. This is not to say that confident people did not get victimized but the vast majority of victims were those who maintained a weak or insecure demeanor. I've since come to categorize such folk professional victims. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups ""Minds Eye"" group.
