Of course coincidence exists. The widespread idea that there are no coincidences is an interpretation not a matter of fact.
The statement suggests that there is some sort of divine or occult causality such as Jungian concept of a causality. My own investigation of these anamalous occurrences indicates that psychological causality is an adequate explanatory concept to account for the creation of at least a number of synchronicities. My observation may not account for all synchronicities but it does for a goodly amount of them - particularly those encountered with myself and in many of my patients receiving psychoanalysis. There are at least 4 theories of synchronicities. These are: statistical, telepathic, the partly psychodynamic and partly mysitical/magical theory of Jung and his adherents; and the naturalistic purely psychodynamic theory of M.D. Faber and myself: G.A.
