Myths exist becasue they are derived from human beings individually and 
collectively always striving out of curiosity and necessity to order and make 
meaning out of the raw data of their experience. Bettlehim in an interesting 
book called The Uses of Enchantment says that if all the book of fairtales were 
destroyed - the next generation would recreate the same ones. I bleieve this is 
evidence of not so much the coolective unconscious rather it is evidence of the 
collective consciousness.
