Parents and certain other adults are also placed on pedestals, I
believe. Later we discover their "feet of clay"- like all of us. It is
difficult for some children when a parent dies or disappears as it
promotes fantasy or wishful thinking.

I know I avoided possibilities- either by retreat or sabotage- as I
was very afraid of being a public person- just from what I had
surmised/observed as a child.
