Hello,

I do not have a solution to your issues, but FYI I use the debian distribution (testing/unstable) with both MIPL2 and NEPL with success.

Regards,

Romain

Benjamin,

I am very interested in your results of testing with the Debian distribution. For your info:
I am using Debian stable (sarge). The kernel is native 2.6.15.6 from
kernel.org+the MIPL patch, built from scratch.

I have the same problems on Ubuntu 5.10, but as this is Debian based I am not
surprised.

Subject: Re: [mipl] Is it normal that the MN

Hey,

I had a look at some of the files.
There is something in mip6d.conf that seems wrong to me:

MnHomeLink "eth0" {
         HomeAgentAddress 2001:660:3203:1012::beef;
         HomeAddress 2001:660:3203:1016::5/64; }

Home Address and HomeAgentAddress should belong to the same
link: 2001:660:3203:1012::/64
HomeAddress should be 2001:660:3203:1012::5/64;

What I found strange in the ifconfig output, is that eth0 has two auto-configured IPv6 global addresses: one for 2001:660:3203:1012::/64 and one for 2001:660:3203:1016::/64. This is as if the MN received RA for both prefixes on the foreign link. If the address 2001:660:3203:1012:203:47ff:fefb:1fd is really auto-configured, MN should have removed it when it moved to the foreign link.

Last thing, you use a Debian distribution, so maybe you encounter the same problem as Leif Buch-Pedersen describes on the ML. He also have an issue with BUs not being sent.
I should install a Debian myself to check this.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your attention on this problem.

Can you send me your configurations files for both HA and MN?
mip6d.conf, ipsec configuration, radvd configuration.
I have not used IPsec yet.
I attached configuration files to this mail.
(May be you send them before but I couldn't find them in my email archive) I'll have a look at it, and tell you if I see something suspect ;)

Can you tell me which Linux distribution you use on both nodes?
FreeBSD 5.4 with kame/shisa for HA and Home Access Router (same machine).
Debian with patched kernel 2.6.15 and mipv6-2.0.1 for MN.

Some more things that could help are:

- A trace of ifconfig on MN before you start mip6d.
I attached to this mail a screen snapshot of ifconfig.

- An ethereal capture on the MN for the following
events:
        - unplug your MN interface
        - start ethereal in promiscuous mode
        - start mip6d on MN
        - plug ethernet cable
        - wait for while (ideally until the router sends a
RA)
        - (or even better until HA sends the
BA)
        - stop ethereal
- A trace of mip6d execution during the above operation.
I attached to this mail the screen snapshot of mip6d and
the ethereal
capture.

Hope I can help you
Thanks and regards,

Sondes

PS: theese attached file names mean:
     -Debian etc_init.d_mipv6 stands for
/etc/init.d/mipv6 in Debian file system
-Debian_etc_mip6d.conf stands for /usr/local/etc/mip6d.conf in Debian file system -FreeBSD_etc_rc.conf stans for /etc/rc.conf in FreeBSd file system
