Really? I've always had very good success with the following process: 1. Set PKG_PATH to something sensible 2. Add "FETCH_PACKAGES=Yes" to /etc/mk.conf 3. cd /usr/ports/x11/gnome && make install 4. Do whatever the install messages tell me
