Somehow your preferences make no sense? On the one hand you are in favour of
self-hosting, so much that you still run sendmail even though you do not use
it; at least not for writing to this misc@ list. On the other hand you propose
to use gmail; but by using gmail you put up a barrier so that self hosters
cannot write to you.
My provider accepts literally any message which has not too scrambled headers.
Some messages get moved to spam folder but I check that occasionally.
(Unfortunately Apple seems to not like my provider and puts my messages to spam
folder so I recommend not to use Apple Mail but this is a different story.)
