Hi,

no, that is not a solution as MITK has its own heuristic to determine if an
image is a binary image or not. You have to follow my solution and uncheck the
"binary" property of your image in the Proberties View in the MitkWorkbench.
Meanwhile I discussed in our group the restriction to non-binary images and we
concluded that it makes no sense. Hence, in our next release (coming the very
next days), this issue will be fixed and you will be able to directly select
binary images.

Cheers,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for quick replay.
I have already tried follow Your solution. I removed "binary part" in mhd
image :

ObjectType = Image
NDims = 3
CompressedData = False
TransformMatrix = 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1
Offset = -150 -39 -27
CenterOfRotation = 0 0 0
AnatomicalOrientation = RAI
ElementSpacing = 0.585938 0.585938 1
DimSize = 512 512 167
ElementType = MET_SHORT
ElementDataFile = outputVolume.raw

But I have still problem with surface to image option. It can not recognize
image.

Best,
Agata

Hi Agata,

I have a solution for you. :) Your mhd file is recognized as segmentation /
binary image by MITK. This is indicated in the data manager through a red icon
instead of the standard gray icon. The "Surface to Image" utility doesn't let
you select segmentations. You have to open the properties view (sheet of paper
and magnifier icon) and uncheck the "binary" property of your image. Now you
can select the image as you would expect it.

Cheers,
Stefan

PS: I'll discuss in our group why segnentation images are not accepted directly
as this is a purely artificial restriction. If there is no good reason I'll
change the utility in order that segmentation / binary images can be set as
input as well.

Hi Andreas,

Ok, I usually send message on mailing list and You.

STEPS :
1. Load vtk mesh file (I used icon "Open" in menu bar)
2. Load mhd file (image file)
3. I go to Segmentation utilities
4. I click option "Surface to image"
5. I choose vtk surface (it is fine)
5. I can not choose image data, finally "convert" button is no active
(disabled)

I attached pdf file with description and screenshots.

I don't know exactly maybe I am doing something wrong ?

Kind regards,
Agata

Hi Agata,

please keep the conversation to the list so that other MITK users can also take
benefit from your question.
I tried the surface to image functionality also with this version of MITK and
for me it works. Could you please describe us the detailed steps you are
performing? In my case the button for converting is never disabled if I have
both image volume and surface mesh loaded.

Best regards
Andreas

Hi Agata,

It is not possible to load any volume. You need at least an image that encloses
the surface you want to convert. I just tested it with the last MITK version
and it worked fine. What version are you using?

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

Thanks for very quick reply. I checked this option in MITK.
I loaded model (triangle mesh vtk) and go to Segmentation Utilities -> Convert
Surface to Volume.
But It is required to add volume as regular data.
I loaded any volume (mhd or vtk 3D image) . But I can not make conversion.
It is not active this option "convert".

I don't know, maybe I am doing something wrong ?

Kind regards,
Agata

Hi Agata,

you can have a look at the segmentation plugin. This plugin has a view called
"Segmentation Utilities"which allows you to write a surface into a binary image.

Best regards
Andreas

Hi  mitk users,

I have a question concerning functionality in mitk.
Is there any possibility to convert mesh to binary image ?

I would appreciate for any info.

Best,
Agata
