The Control MP3 needs some magic incantation that is as yet undiscovered in 
order to make it work like the others, and I think from the messages there, 
that's the mode that it's trying.

If you compile with djconsole_legacy=1 you'll get code that reads the herc 
just fine but you won't have the LEDs. If you apply the kernel patch here:
http://www.kallisti.net.nz/~robin/mixxx/
then you'll get LEDs, too. The modules on that page are compiled for Ubuntu 
7.10 i386, so if that's what you're running you can just rmmod usbhid and 
hid, then insmod the modules there and it'll work (if you do this, unplug and 
replug the herc afterwards, otherwise it gets upset)

If not, apply the patch to your kernel source, do a 'make modules' and pull 
those files out.
