Functionality-wise it is almost identical to the MP3 control w/ Robin's
patches (most of the control code is the same/similar).
Mk2 is a tiny bit easier to get going just because libDJConsole is able to
control the hardware.
* Jog Wheels - do something, but they aren't particularly useful (on my PC,
I can jog but it's not fast enough in either direction to scratch or seek
effectively).
* LEDs - they work, not sure of the UV meter thing with the
MasterTempo/Loop/Cue/Fx button works on the Mk2.
* Buttons - button support is very similar to MP3: Play/Pause, Cue, Track
forward/back, Pitch, Treb/Med/Bass knobs, volume and crossfaders all work
for sure. Buttons are onyly illuminated when they are depressed because
they are not currently tied to the state of the playback engine. (i.e.
today you hold play it will be green, you let up it will go white again;
when we implement the proper engine callbacks it will stay green until
engine * *playback is stopped and then go off)
* Loop/Cue/FX (1,2,3) buttons are not wired to anything in Mixxx atm.
* Built in sound card works and you can do monitoring via the headphone jack
(set master channel to 1-2, headphone to channel 3-4)
We have code that can control all buttons, LEDs, and lights on the device
via libDJConsole, not all of the plumbing is there to make them do stuff
atm.
As Robin mentioned, we were in contact with the Hercules DJ Console series
project manager earlier this month who said they were planning to do a Linux
driver for the Mk1/Mk2/MP3/MobileDJ towards the end of the Q1 next 2008.
When that driver is done [we have our fingers crossed on time and that it
will be open source], we will most likely standardize control of all
Hercules devices on the same MIDI interface that we use to control them
today with 1.6.0 on Windows.

Tried to do up an ubuntu i386 package with djconsole_legacy=1 optimize=2 on
my eeePC, but it looks like the package build doesn't like spaces in the
path...
I'll see if I can't do a symlink to get around that and get something posted
later on today...
