Hi Waylon,
I think most of your requests are documentation issues. The others are
doable with some effort. Are you willing to make your hands dirty? You will
receive all the support you need.
Using Decks for external Input is possible, using the Vinyl Control input
and enable
[ChannelN] "passthought"
However, it seams to be a bit overblown to instantiate up to 32 full
featured decks.
It is intended to use the Aux controls for it. Since Mixxx 1.12 features a
effect Rack and EQ Effects,
it is possible to add any effect to the Aux channels using:
[EffectRackN_EffectUnitN] "group_[AuxilaryN]_enable"
The mixer orientation can be controlled by [AuxilaryN] "orientation"
What else deck features you are missing for Aux?
A EQ Mid Sweep knob can be implemented on a Parametric EQ
https://bugs.launchpad.net/mixxx/+bug/1364779
This will probably Implemented by Nicu Badescu, if he finds time.
Can you explain the use case for such an EQ? What are the required knob
parameters? Can we map it to the 3 standard EQ Knobs?
We have also a pending pull request for a dedicated EQ Rack. This could be
easily extended for all other sources like Aux/Mic/Sampler. Unfortunately
it is blocked because of a pending discussion how to implement the kill
buttons. I hope that this will be part of 1.12 as well.
So we have this Todo List:
* Build a N x Aux Skin featuring all required controls.
* Extend Mixxx to instantiate the Number of Aux Decks from the Skins
https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/blob/9ee88ce6ef8a4054a367b653b6ac8d22f3f6b728/src/mixxx.cpp#L88
* Allow to configure N Aux Inputs in Hardware preferences
* Extend th EQ Rack for N Aux Channels
https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/pull/330
* Add a Mid Sweeping EQ.
Do not hesitate to ask!
Hope that helps. And happy coding :-)
Kind regards,
Daniel
