Yes, but i dont think its any more Low-tech than my little VW OHC
8v, or DOHC 16v.
Chevy has gotten a lot of mileage out of OHV engines, and the
LS1 is impressive in it's own right. But come on: pushrods and solid
axles are dated technology; I have a freind with a newer Z28 thats
pretty well prepared, but you can still tell the car has these
anachronisms. You pretty nuch only find those on trucks these days.
Even that's changing: the new Toyota full size truck has a 4.7l OHC
V8 and (unloaded) runs circles around the big three's similar
offerings. I'm sure Matthew will defend his big 'ol Diesel, and I
agree, when you need to tow or haul heavy loads, there are advantages
to the traditional American approach. But for a 'sports car' I will
stand behind my statement that the Impalla is 'low-tech.'
