Lots of factors, but a couple of the major ones are that we allow much
heavier trucks than a lot of the world, and that we usually use asphault
rather than concrete to build roads.  Asphault wears out REALLY quickly
compared to good concrete.  We also use salt rather than chemical ice melts
or sand.  Salt will eat roads, too.  America DOES have some good roads, but
they're all in the south or california...
