i would have to disagree. i think it would be a difficult task to find a decent 90's car for that little. guys have their 90's cars all modded out and expect to get 7 and 8 grand for anything that hasnt hit 6 digits yet. i spent two weeks of searching (BTW, cars.com is one of the best places to start your search) for my car. all i wanted was a 2.0 16v gti, and not red. i finally ended up with a clean *all* stock car with 102k miles on it for $4800. (a good deal, i must say) IMHO, its better to get a high mileage early 16v car with a good body and interior, and spend the money right away on a block, clutch, (for gods sake) the timing belt (and other belts), and your standard tune up stuff. then tune the oh-so-home-tunbale jetronic a little bit, and be on you way. and if you can do that, you can get an 87 gti in dark blue mica. <drool> > has motronic rather than > CIS-E (a bit easier to care for) motronic is cis-e. :-) although it might be a personal feeling, i like jetronic much better than motronic. i dont think one is easier than another to "care for" (?) but jetronic is IMHO much easier to work with. > and the benefit of german construction. possible good point. apparently the early mexican cars were shit. dunno. mine seems just fine. > The big thing, IMHO, is to get a WELL CARED FOR CAR. > You can EASILLY spend $1500 fixing up a car that wasn't loved... a very smart suggestion. ben randolph 92 16v gti, montana green 87 16v gti RIP, dark blue mica...till the sawzall gets to it... :-( _____________ List Sponsor: http://www.netsville.com To remove yourself from this list, send mail to [email protected] with 'unsubscribe a2_16v' in the body of your message See us on the web at http://www.a2-16v.com Visit the 16V Homepage at http://www.gti16v.org
