I had an interesting weekend. Friday night, the car continued to run like total crap, this time embarrasing me in front of a date. It's fine all the way to College Park (about 30 miles, I think), then as soon as i get off the highway and sit at a light for about 5 mintues, it runs like total crap. Damn computers... Anyway, on the way home, I am right down the street from my house, and I come around a blind turn at about 40, and hit a 6 inch deep trench that the local DOT left in the middle of the road. I bent a wheel so badly that the tire won't hold air(woke up to a flat). Now I have a car with 3 black BBSs and one silver one. AHH! Now, I want to go after the local DOT for repair/replacement costs. Has anyone ever been sucessful with this? I need to do this soon, so any advice would be nice.
Now, on to the good stuff. Sunday I picked up a Garrett chip in exchange for putting an alternator belt on this guy's GTI. And he bought the belt! God I love stupid people. Anyway, I cleaned oll of the grounds on the GTX, and the guy with the belt issue brought a timing light, and I timed my car properly. It was set to 12 degrees retard. I reset it to 6 degrees BTDC, and THE BEAST HAS COME ALIVE! What a rocketship. I can't keep the tires from spinning all the way through first, and most of the way through second. Can't wait to get that no-cat(no flames) downpipe on with the Garrett chip. But I need new motor mounts first. Does anyone know where I can get the eurethane insert for the rear(barrel-style) rear mount, and the barrel style front mount? I need these on short order. TIA, guys, and until we meet again....watch out for the black Jetta with PHOBIA on the plates.... -Dave '91 GTX 16V _____________ List Sponsor: http://www.netsville.com To remove yourself from this list, send mail to [email protected] with 'unsubscribe a2_16v' in the body of your message See us on the web at http://www.a2-16v.com Visit the 16V Homepage at http://www.gti16v.org
