On my second date with my present girlfriend, on the way to the restaurant my Jetta's shift linkage fell apart. Tranny was stuck in 4th. Not wanting to ruin the date, I said what the heck. I kept driving with LOTS of clutch slippage. I am SO lucky I didn't have to parallel park. She was impressed i didn't give up and call a tow truck.
