id like to ask a few questions before i go looking
Here's my 2 cents:
1. do you think i should just go for a 16v gli because everyone has a gti and
i want to be origanal
Uh oh, not GTI vs. GLI again! Do you want/need a sedan or a
hatchback? Base you decision on that. If you regularly have to carry
more than two people, get the GLI. However, if you need to move a
large piece of furnature, or are into outdoor activities, the large
cargo area and rear hatch of the GTI are handy. If neither of those
are an issue, get the one that you think looks best.
4.when did volkswagon start installing the 16v in there cars any good years
to look for any years to stay away from
87 in the GTI. Even though I have an '87 GTI (1.81 with
CIS-E) I would recommend a 90-92, with the 2.0l and Motronic
injection.
5.how much more money am i going to spend modding the 16v as opposed to the
8v i know the cams are 700$ instead of the 175$ i spent on my old jetta is
this tru with all other parts
Most performance parts (suspension, exhaust, brakes. . .)
cost the same. Only the parts directly related to the cylinder head
(like cams) are more expensive.
8.anyone on the list selling a 16v gti/gli ?
Somebody just posted a GLI; didn't save the message though.
I know that other people on the list have personal experience
and can comment better on the items I havn't addresed; hopefully
you'll get some good advice.
Good luck,
