Denis, On my GLI when letting off the gas the shift lever would move (on it's own) quite a bit. This was a symptom of a broken front mount. Greg Overman ----- Original Message ----- From: Denis Palmans To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, July 11, 2001 12:31 AM Subject: How to check motormounts?
How can I check the motormounts to make sure they're not shot? Are there any other ways than to pull the handbrake and let the clutch out a bit, while someone else looks at the engine? Also is there anyway to tell which mount is bad? On my car when I let out the clutch, if I let it out too quick, or if I don't match the revs good enough and let it out quick, I get a 'clunk clunk' that seems like the engine is jumping around in the engine bay. It makes the car extremely hard to drive smoothly. I was thinking the front motor mount, or maybe the rear one... Any ideas? _____________ List Sponsor: http://www.netsville.com To remove yourself from this list, send mail to [email protected] with 'unsubscribe a2_16v' in the body of your message See us on the web at http://www.a2-16v.com Visit the 16V Homepage at http://www.gti16v.org
