Hey Jay, So you also think your Dub is a Porsche heh? I guess that's the result of all the bondings you've had w/ Josh of late... Hell, even your 924 is a NARP (in the P-community, it's short for Not A Real Porsche)... The only thing a VW has in common with a Porsche is its propensity to leak its fluids...
I wanted to go racing and the 914 is in the doghouse as far as classifications; it's currently in ITA where it has to compete against cars w/ much more hp. The best 914/4 makes about 90+hp. The usual ITA cars, CRX Si, GTI 18v, 240SX, and even the early Miata 90-93 w/ 1.6 motors all make 20-30+ hp more than the 914. I've heard that it may get moved to ITB soon where it'll compete against the GTI 8v and BMW 2002. I may revisit 914 ownership if that ever happens... I bought a Miata because I wanted to run in Spec Miata. It's not a Porsche but in stock form, it has double-wishbones at all 4 corners, 50/50 weight distribution and a Torsen limited slip. FYI, the 1.8 Miata is classed in ITS where it gets to compete w/ BMW 325is, Corrado VR6, etc... BTW, my buddy recently has purchased just about the best 914/4 I've ever seen. It's well prepped with new but not ITA legal motor/tranny and I should have the opportunity to drive it on the tracks... And you Brice... well, nevermind... Rainbow Racing 90 GLI
From: "Der 924 GuRu" <[email protected]> YEP, EVERYONE has one... I have to concur here with Brice, Porsche: THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE! Of course a good running, handling Dub is a good approximation!
